"New"seum Visits

Raleigh has some pretty awesome museums - most of them kid-centered. We've had a pretty good time checking them out lately.

There is The Museum of Life and Science - it's kind of like when a museum and a zoo get married. They have some very cool learning activities & displays and they also have an entire outside area wher you can see animals (bears, foxes, lemurs). We took Jack to this museum this morning and we think he had a pretty good time.

Lee called this the dumptruck graveyard. This was near their playground - the last place we visited at the museum. We had to drag Jack out of here.

There was the butterfly house, which also housed bugs of every kind. Here Jack is checking out a tarantuala.

There was an entire area dedicated to teaching about wind/flying. Jackson and Lee enjoyed playing with the little sailboats.

And watching the bigger ones.

The Mist Garden - this teaches kids about how wind travels around objects. Jack wasn't too interested in that part but he liked playing with the mist.

Jack "paddling like a duck".
And then there is Marbles Kids Museum. If you like over-stimulation, kids running everywhere craziness then this place is for you. We visited Marbles for the ssecond time with my mom, sister and nephew. Jackson really likes Marbles - and what kid wouldn't? Everything is kid-sized and very cool.

The 3-story high pirate ship.

The kid-sized grocery store and kitchen. This is probably my favorite part and Jack seems to like it, too.

Fishing off the side of the motor boat. The poles and fish have magnets. Jack loves to fish and could have spent all day here.

Jack calls museums "newseums" and gets so excited when we say we are visiting a museum.

Looks super fun! Especially Marbles! Maybe we can go when we head that way :)
