Mickey Mouse, potty training and being still

Mickey Mouse is our new best friend. He goes everywhere we go and does everything we do. If Jackson has berries for breakfast then heaven help us if Mickey Mouse isn't also sitting at the table with a bowl of berries in front of him. I tried being sneaky and just putting an empty bowl in front of our dear friend Mickey but Jack saw right through that. "Mickey Mouse berries bowl!!!" he said. If Jack has a cup of water then Mickey has to have one too. Jack would like Mickey to also have juice and milk in his cup but so far I have been able to sneak by with just filling Mickey's cup with water.

Mickey joined us for playdoh and coloring this morning. Did you know Mickey's favorite play-doh color is purple??? He also likes to make balls, not snakes, out of his playdoh and definitely does not like to eat his playdoh.

I think Jack is ready to start some potty training. Why do I think that?? Well, he runs to his room and shuts the door when he is going to have a dirty diaper and grabs his diaper and says "diaper" when he has to, well, pee (for lack of a better word). He likes to sit on his potty maybe once a day and he will pee with no problem and LOVES the treat afterwards. But that's it, once he has sat on his potty one or maybe two times - he is done. He will yell "NO!!" when I ask him to sit on it again and run the opposite direction. I've thought about putting him in just underwear or training pants so he doesn't have the diaper absorbing so much for him but just don't know about the mess that will cause. Pray for this next chapter in our lives. I know that it will go smoothly and will be one of those things that looked like a bigger deal than it was when we are all done.

"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Wow - how much easier would things be if we could just do that?? Be still and know who He is and what He has done and all that He can do. We take so much on ourselves and don't give God anywhere near as much as we should, at least I do that.

I had a quiet time the other day unlike any I have had in a while. I was actually still and just focused on God and who He has been for me in the past, who He has said he will be, if I let Him, and what He wants to do and just how much He loves me. It was not easy - my mind wanted to wander all over the place but I tried to stay focused on just God. It was simply amazing the peace that came from just spending that time not talking, not asking for something but just focusing on Him. I know that life can get hard - we get burnt out and tired and frustrated. But we make it so much harder than it should be when we take our focus off of Him and put it on us and our worries. He just wants our trust - all of it - and faith that He will carry us through anything and that His ways are always better than ours.

And then, this picture - just because I caught a sweet time between Daddy and Jack on camera and just to show you how BIG Jack's feet are getting....

I told you this morning, but you could totally write a devotional with how well you write about what God is teaching you. Thank you for sharing that with us. I will have to work on a publisher for you. :)

If Jackson gets the hang of the potty training thing, maybe he can teach Caleb :)
