Sweet duet

Every night before Jackson goes to bed I rock him and sing "Jesus Loves Me". I've been doing this for a loooong time. We read books (some nights it is tons and tons of books) and then we rock, sing and off to sleep he goes. I never thought he was paying much attention to my singing - first of all, I cant carry a tune and second, he's usually either rubbing his eyes and falling asleep or fighting sleep so hard that he is pointing out all my face parts ("Mommy cheek, Mommy nose, Mommy mouth").

Probably a few weeks ago, though, I noticed him starting to hum along with me and then, not long after that, I noticed his sweet little voice singing along with me. Now, I will sometimes sing this 6 or 7 times just to hear him.
I've included our version of Jesus Loves Me below (Jack's words are in parantheses):

Jesus (Desus!! Desus!!) Loves Me (Me Me Mimi, Mimi, Papa, Mommy, Daddy)

This I know (no, no, no, no - sometimes he throws an "I" in there)

For the Bible (Bible, Bible, Bible) tells me so (me, me, me no, no)

Little ones (little, little and here he holds up 1 finger) to him belong (be be ong)

They are weak but he is strong (he he he he)

Yes, Jesus (Desus, Desus) loves me (nuv me, me, me, mimi, papa, mommy daddy) we repeat this verse 3 times and he repeats the same thing every time

For the Bible (Bible, Bible) tells me so (me, me, no)

It's very sweet to hear his little words - he's still on one verse while I've moved on to the next one. I think we make a pretty sweet duet.

I love it. It is so sweet especially when they start to realize what you are talking about.

Caleb asked me to sing that to him the other day in the car. It was so cute.

It still amazes me just how much they really do understand.
