Definitely a Daddy trait

Jackson has started fighting his bedtime - BIGTIME fighting his bedtime. I am often completely exhausted after putting him to bed. It starts when I tell him it is time to go to bed - he chooses that moment to tell me he's hungry (I fell for it a few times but have since realized he isn't hungry). Then we proceed to his room for what used to be a quick read of Goodnight Moon a few minutes of peaceful rocking in the chair and then a sleeping Jack.

Now it is "more" and "more" and "more" Goodnight Moon (he is actually quite cute when he asks for this because he says "more" and then puts his finger up to his lips for the quiet old lady who was whispering hush). I have cut him down to 2 Goodnight Moons and then tell him "no more". Well, then he's hungry - he's thirsty- he has a dirty diaper - he wants to brush his teeth again - he's hungry - he wants water - he wants daddy - he's hungry. Now understand - he is exhausted by this point and falls asleep on my shoulder between requests. I fell for all these requests several nights in a row and bedtime stretched into a 1 hour affair. No more - sorry Jack - Mommy knows your tricks. Bedtime is bedtime - and this is what I tell him.

Now - for those who know me pretty well you know that Jackson did not inherit this from me. I loved my bedtime growing up - I still do!! This wonderful quality was something daddy passed down. He admitted it himself. I really feel that Daddy should now be responsible for getting his son into his bed at night - dont you??

I say, AMEN. Especially since Jack inherited that trait from his daddy.

They sure do like to try to trick us don't they. Glad you are on to him. Stay strong. :)

Landree now says rock rock at night then when we sit to rock it's book book. After we are finished reading (or when I say no more books) she says night night...like it's not worth rocking anymore just put me to bed.
