Package Nightmares

Jackson loves, loves, loves, LOVES to get mail. Checking the mail each day is just so much fun for him - something he really looks forward to. If he actually gets something in the mail - it makes his day. Sometimes, when he hasn't gotten a piece of mail in a few weeks, I will pull something out of the mailbox that I know will interest him but is not actually for him and spend at least 30 minutes going over his new piece of mail. Like yesterday, I gave him a Dell magazine Lee had gotten and we spent 30 minutes picking out his new Super-Duper Computer (Like Wyatt on Super Why).

But, if you really want to make this boy happy - send him a package. He goes crazy over getting a package. Mimi and Papa send him little packages from time to time and he is just on cloud 9 for days afterwards.

So, I decided to order him a Lightening McQueen watch and hat using his Disney Movie Rewards points (we have been entering the little codes from each Disney movie we have gotten him since he was born and finally had enough to get something worthwhile). He helped my pick it out and, since the website said to expect 6-8 weeks for delivery, I told him to not start looking for it anytime soon. Otherwise, he would be out at the mailbox everyday asking the mailman where his package was.

Imagine my surprise when, the very next day, I got an email saying that our package had been shipped!!! I told Jack to expect it by the end of the week. He was so excited! Every day he asked "Did my package come???" The end of the week came - no package - so I told him definitely next week. Next week came and went - no package. And Jackson was starting to get upset. We would check the mailbox and when there wasn't a package he would almost be in tears.

So, I found an email address from the email they had sent saying the package had been shipped (almost 10 days ago now) and emailed them asking where our package was. Certainly it didnt take 10 days for a package to get to it's destination. After several emails back and forth (and 4 or 5 more days) I began to realize they had no idea where our package was. I was requesting our points be added back to our account and preparing myself to tell Jack that his package was never coming when...IT CAME!!! Only 16 days AFTER it was shipped - who knows where it came from - but Jack didn't care. He got his package!!! He told EVERYONE about his package and his new watch and hat. He hasn't taken them off since - except to swim, bathe and sleep. And about twice a day he will say to me "So, Mom, my package finally came, huh??"
